May I take pleasure in informing Your Excellency that Thailand has been honoured to host the Fourth Asian Physics Olympiad (4th APhO) during 20-29 April 2003.  This event is also organized to commemorate the 80th birth anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, His majesty the King’s sister, in recognition of Her Royal Highness’s patronage and long-standing support for science education in Thailand.

The venue of this event will be at the Salaya Campus of Mahidol University, which is itself a well-known higher educational institute, with regards to its contributions to the progress of basic science and health science. Five organizations are the co-hosts of this Olympiad: the Promotion of Academic Olympiads and Development of Science Education Foundation under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra (POSN), the Ministry of Education of Thailand, the Thai Institute of Physics, Mahidol University, and the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST).

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and myself as Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of 4th APhO, it is my honour to extend a warm invitation to your country to participate in this significant event for the benefits of the promotion of physics education and the spirit of cooperation among the learning communities.  Attached please find the APhO announcement and its related agenda. Further information may be accessed via http://www.thaihoo.com

I sincerely hope that Thailand will be honoured by the participation of your country in this Physics Olympiad and look forward to receiving affirmation from your country in the near future.
